How long before a kool-aid packet goes bad?
I found one that seems old, the powder that you add to sugar and water,
do you think i could still use it?
Sure. If it is all hardened up and dryed out, add some boiling water to help dissolve it easier. Don't forget to count the water you use as part of the water for the kool-aid. Also, I find I like to use less sugar than the package calls for: about 2/3 cup instead of a full cup.
This Christmas Serve my Aunt Sis's Christmas Punch at your Holiday Gathering
As I get older it seems I turn more and more to my childhood memories and the good food served when I was young (a long time ago!). This recipe is my aunt's Christmas punch although it is a great punch for anytime of the year for parties, showers, etc. The mashed bananas just seem to add a special touch.
AUNT SIS'S CHRISTMAS PUNCH
This is a punch my aunt used to serve for Christmas. It is also good for parties, showers, etc. We love it anytime of the year.
2 pkgs cherry Kool-Aid
2 pkgs strawberry Kool-Aid
1 small can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 small can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
2 large or 3 small bananas, mashed
3 cups sugar
1 tall can pineapple juice
2 bottles (16-oz each) Ginger-Ale or 7-UP
3 cups water
Mash the bananas in a very large bowl. Add the cherry Kool-Aid, strawberry Kool-Aid, orange juice concentrate, and lemonade concentrate; mix together well. Add the pineapple juice, water, and Ginger-Ale or 7-UP. Stir well. Pour into a large plastic container with a lid and freeze.
2 to 3 hours before serving time, remove the punch from the freezer. Put mixture into a large punch bowl. Thaw until mushy. Float green plastic holly on top for decoration, if desired.
NOTE: This punch is good in the fall for harvest parties, Halloween parties, or Thanksgiving when made with 3 packages of Orange Kool-Aid and 1 package of Lemonade Kool-Aid. For Halloween parties, float some plastic spiders on top and drape some fake cobwebs around the punch bowl. For Thanksgiving, set your punch bowl in the center of some fresh fall flowers, some fall leaves or mini pumpkins and gourds.
Enjoy!
